Home Learning

Year 7 and 8 students are busy and involved young people, and school is often just a small part of their wider circle of learning. In addition to school, students may learn from friends, family, whanau, cultural or languages teachers, sports coaches or religious mentors. And all of this is important learning for students, it's part of what makes them the awesome person they are.

In Room 3 our Home Learning (formerly known as Homework) reflects this. We do lots of learning during the day at school, and the learning that takes place outside of school is equally important, so we don't want home learning to get in the way of these awesome things.

We also know that the workload at College is significantly higher than Intermediate and we want to help our students be prepared for this, so some Home Learning is still expected.

Our Home Learning requirements are:

  • 1 Hour of mathletics per week
  • 20 Minutes reading per night
  • Learn and practice spelling/vocab words
  • Comment and respond to our class blog

From time to time, students may also bring home learning related to project work that we are doing in class too.
