Week 1 Discussion: Holiday Persuasion

We all love them, but what did we get up to in them? Today's topic is holidays. And persuasion.

Pick a holiday activity - it might be one that you've done or one that you want to do. Your job is to write a paragraph persuading us that this activity is the best possible thing we could do in the holidays. It doesn't have to be anything that costs money either - it could be as simple as building a blanket fort.

Persuade away...

Week 6 Discussion: Exotic Places

There are so many amazing places in the world. This week your task is to choose an amazing place that you'd love to travel to and tell us a little bit about it in your own words. Here's the catch though - it has to be somewhere unusual, unique or not well known (no Australia or America here!).

Here's mine as an example:

I'd love to travel to the Tianzi Mountains in Zhangjiajie in the Hunan Province in China. These mountains are extremely unique because the are shaped like tall spires of rock - not at all like traditional mountains. They actually look a lot like something out of Avatar. The mountains' name, Tianzi, means son of heaven and is named in honour of a Chinese ruler who lived over 800 years ago.

Discussion Week 5: Lego Bridge

In Wuppertal, Germany, local artists have decorated a bridge - Lego style! Read the article here and the provide a response in the comments. Use the question below to guide your response - but don't just answer the question - write it into a sentence like we've been practising in class.

What do you think of the bridge? Is it a worthwhile project or are there better things the money could have been spent on?
Do you think the City Council should invest money in projects like this? Or is it the responsibility of communities to fundraise such initiatives?
